Robert Newlen is a graduate of Bridgewater College with degrees in political science and French. He also earned master’s degrees in library science and art history. His 40-year career at the Library of Congress has spanned many capacities, including assistant librarian for the Law Library. In 2010

he became chief of staff, overseeing collection development, research and reference services, and outreach to the library’s diverse audiences. The Magna Carta exhibition was under his supervision. He was on the executive board of the American Library Association (ALA) and currently serves as a trustee of the ALA Endowment.
