Native Southerners: Indigenous History from Origins to Removal

book talk by Gregory D. Smithers

Dr. Gregory D. Smithers, professor of history at Virginia Commonwealth University and award-winning historian, will discuss his latest book, Native Southerners: Indigenous History from Origins to Removal, a sweeping narrative of American Indian history in the Southeast from the time before European colonization to the Trail of Tears and beyond.

The event is free and open to the public.

Following the event, the Augusta County Historical Society will sell copies of Smithers’ book with proceeds going to the historical society.
