Jonesboro Union Church Cemetery Rippetoe Lane Area Swoope, Virginia 24479 Compiled by Joe Nutt, August 24, 2000 The Jonesboro Cemetery served as a community gravesite for the churches in the Christian-Jonesboro area of Swoope. It is located on the south side of Rippetoe Lane, about three-tenths of a mile west of Scott Christian Rd., about a mile south of Parkersburg Turnpike (U.S. 254). Rippetoe Lane was named for the family that owned iron mines on Little North Mountain in the 19th century. In earlier years, it was known as Jonesboro Rd. Wardell has made efforts towards the upkeep. There are about 8 metal marker here that are illegible, several small, uncarved fieldstones, and a good number of unmarked cavities in this wooded cemetery. Artificial flowers of recent origin decorate some of the unmarked sites. END
