Lucy (Hogshead) Landes, 91, of Bridgewater, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. She had moved to Bridgewater in October of 1980, coming from the family farm in Centerville.

She was born July 18, 1913, at Mossy Creek, and was a daughter of the late Charles Arthur Hogshead and Jessie Phillips Hogshead.

She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church and the Women’s Circle of Salem Lutheran Church. She was a graduate of North River High School, Class of 1932.

On Feb. 12, 1933, she was united in marriage to Raymond Ervin Landes, who preceded her in death Oct. 2, 1994.

She is survived by three daughters, Margie Moore of Mount Sidney, Maralee and Richard Reeves, Sandra and Gary Shull, both of Bridgewater; two brothers, Lester P. Hogshead, Richard M. Hogshead, both of Harrisonburg. Eight grandchildren, Larry and April Moore, Susan and Sam Arey, Dale and Sharon Reeves, Sharon and Joe Bowman, Karen and Matt Wade, Ervin and Angie Shull, Jeanette and Eddie Moore, Kevin Shull, and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Ollie Hiner, five brothers, George, Hinkle, Carl, Massey, and Ray Hogshead.

A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. in the Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Christopher Carr officiating. A private burial will be earlier in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery. 
The family will receive friends at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater on Tuesday, March 1, 2005, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
